Faber Maunsell has an outstanding track record in creating healthcare facilities that meet staff and patient needs – and deliver value for money.

Working closely with clients and other suppliers, we undertake civil and structural design as well as building services engineering for all types of healthcare facility, including large-scale PFI hospitals, acute and primary care facilities, walk-in clinics and specialist units. We also provide facilities and estate management services in the healthcare field.

We help NHS Trusts, healthcare consortia and private healthcare clients to realise building projects which are cost-effective and fit for purpose.

We are specialists in integrating the structure, fabric and engineering systems of healthcare buildings. Our 3D modelling systems enable clients to visualise exactly how all the elements of the building will work together.

With cross-disciplinary experience, we can act as a key pivot for the design team in realising the design brief and delivering precisely what the client requires and the patient needs.

We deliver value for money by challenging accepted practice and developing innovative solutions. We ensure that our design approach takes into account the needs of staff, patients and visitors alike, focusing on adaptability, flexibility and ease of expansion.

Our skills cover virtually ever facet of healthcare building performance – from lighting to IT infrastructure, security systems, acoustic performance, façade design and analysis, fire and risk engineering and health and safety co-ordination.

We are involved in updating Health Technical Memoranda on behalf of the Department of Health. We also act as client advisors on major national projects, participating in both NHS Estates’ Procure 21 programme and the Welsh Health Estates’ ‘Design for Life’ programme.

Our contribution to the development of healthcare facilities is not confined to the built environment. We undertake environmental impact assessments, advise on ecological aspects, work closely with master planners on estates strategy and provide full transport design services.
